The Broken Eminence in Shadow Protagonist

There are many anime viewers, maybe most, who dream of living the life of their favourite, or any other, anime characters at least once in their lifetime where they save their school from terrorists or fight against evil or anything like that. I know I do.

But who would've thought, even in their wildest dreams, that we would see an anime character living the life like that of an anime character.

The one I am talking about, is none other than Cid Kagenou, from the anime series, "The Eminence in Shadow" or "Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute!" in Japanese, which quickly garnered attention due to the innate quirky yet badass nature of the anime.

If you haven't seen this anime yet, you are missing out. Big time. This anime is pretty out of the ordinary. Check it out as soon as soon as you can.

[Spoilers Ahead]

The anime(just some "recitation") :

A guy, Cid Kagenou, intentionally acting as a background/unimportant character in his own anime; but having insane superpowers and uses it whenever he gets the chance to look "cool" with it. The kind of thing everyone dreams of. The motivation that everyone should have smh.

At the beginning of the anime it is seen that Cid is a normal high schooler without any superpower. A normal guy going just through his life. We also see a girl, Akane Nishino who used to greet Cid every morning, despite the fact that she hated him. And every-time when Cid greeted her back, he got her name wrong. Of course, it pissed her off.

But then we see our boy Cid, without any kind of special power, in action when he went to rescue Akane as she was kidnapped by a group led by an ex-military guy. Cid had nothing. Just a mask and two crowbars facing off against few adults with knives and pistols.

But guess what... Cid came out victorious. This dude just swung his crowbar and outsmarted his enemies and took down all of them. And the fight against the military guy... What was that?! A military guy with a knife, buffed af, was struggling against a high-school boy with two crowbars! Talk about plot armor. But... Well... Moving on without questioning, after he managed to rescue Akane, he simply walked away without even giving his name to Akane after all that happened. What a persona.

Anyways, so the protagonist, Cid, had a desperation to get stronger, to overpower anything he desired. So he trained. After lot of training he could beat up guys physically. But against guns or missiles, he would be powerless. But he wanted more than that. So, he had this innate desire to become stronger, but suddenly, an unfortunate(?) event struck.

He was hit by the infamous, the god of destruction in the world of anime, the Truck-kun.

After being hit buy a truck and dying, he was reborn in another world with extraordinary magical powers which was even unheard of in the world he was born into. Just the thing everyone dreams of(except the dying part of course).

Here, Cid Kagenou was born into a noble family and had a sister named Claire Kagenou. And don't ask me why Cid has the same name as he did in his previous world. It is a mystery to me as well. So, among the two siblings, Cid and Claire, Cid was few times stronger than Claire but he kept it hidden just so he could stay as a background character. Wow. Like... Personally, if I had that much power, I'd probably be going around the city challenging strong people or fighting crimes. But it seems that Cid has a whole other plan of his own.

Turns out, he did go out and fought crimes, but on his own and without anyone knowing. A "noble" hero. Then came a day where while fighting he discovered a girl and rescued her, whom he fed a supposedly false story, that a cult known as the Diablos Cult, posed an imminent danger and kept her under him so that she could help him in his plans.

Cid Kagenou rescues Alpha
His grand plan was to create an organization named the "Shadow Garden". A very cool name if you ask me. He started that organization with the girl he rescued. He gave her the name "Alpha". He thereafter gave her the task to collect members which she did. The name of the members were the successive to the word "Alpha" like "Beta", "Gamma", etc. And trust me when I say this... All of these members were drop dead gorgeous

Especially "Alpha" and "Gamma" for me. I have no idea how Cid did not fall for anyone of the members for Shadow Garden. A true sigma. Anyways, that is a topic for later. Also the line "We are Shadow Garden. We lurk in the shadows, and hunt the shadows." gives goosebumps every-time I hear it.

But the line

I. Am. Atomic.

It is just built different. I feel like someone's whispering it in my ears. Sends shivers down the spine. Insane.

So after gathering members and starting the organization, Cid kept fighting crimes as he used to, wearing an INSANE, DOPE, pitch-black coat with golden designs on it. One of the best outfit design I have seen in an anime.

Cid Kagenou Cid
I mean... Think about it. Having power beyond imagination, gorgeous women following your steps and fighting crime like an everyday chore. Who wouldn't want a life like this. A bliss.

Well, no use dreaming about it. It'll never be the reality unfortunately :(

Now, while doing all this at night, this dude, Cid acts as a normal guy at his academy where he does normal stuff and hangs out with normal friends. Although he did get acquainted with some important people along the way, he didn't falter. He continued his "humble" way of living as a normal guy.

Oh, and there is a scene where a classmate with whom Cid is apparently in a relation with tries to buy Cid out. Her name is Alexia Midgar. To buy him out, Alexia throws out a gold coin in front of him. Guess what happened next. My man just dropped to the coin like a dog and was ready to do anything for it. What a persona.

Cid is a dog. Alexia throws gold coin to Cid. Cid gets gold coin from Alexia.

There is NOTHING that is normal in this anime.

  • There was a terrorist attack at his academy during which he got himself "killed". Apparently he somehow stopped his heart for 10 minutes.
  • Then there a girl named "Epsilon" who uses the black slime to enhance her breasts; which once fell off and she quickly reattached them as well.
  • Then there was a scene where he had rescued a girl from goons wearing a paper bag over his face!
  • Then there was a dramatic moment where Cid told his friends that he had to poop so he'd stay behind. Trust me, if the context was shifted from poop to something else, many would've cried at that scene.
  • Then there was a time when he dressed up as a feeble man just to show off what his skills were despite being feeble, during a tournament.
  • Then there was a scene where Cid went into a hot spring with Alexia and showed of his "Excalibur"(if you what I mean) to her with great pride.
  • And the members of the Shadow Garden! They always find some round-about way to believe and consider a fact everything Cid says, even if it is wrong.

The list goes on and on and on. This anime is the epitome of ridiculousness. But... No one can say that the anime ain't insane.

His attacks are beyond anything the world has ever seen. One of his attacks created a hole in middle of the city. A hole whose diameter is probably few kilometers! He is, without a doubt, one of the most cracked anime characters ever. A true hype.

And the female cast was just as insane.

Especially the members of Shadow Garden.

Alpha, as the second in command of the Shadow Garden.

Beta, writing books as a renowned author.

Gamma, a very successful businesswoman.

Delta, a furious fighter.

Iris Midgar, the princess of Kingdom of Midgar.

Aurora, a witch from the distant past.

The list goes on....

The characters of this anime were really well done. And I suppose I don't need to say anything about the anime itself. It's just everything out of a dream.

So yeah, that's what I think about the protagonist and the anime. Waiting for the second season to come out. Hope you guys found this blog fun to read! Thanks for reading till the end.

After Shiori died, Koyomi was devasted by her unfortunate death and was determined to bring her back which made him become a specialist in the field of study of parallel worlds. Sometime later when Koy
