"To Me, The One Who Loved You" and "To Every You That I've Loved Before" are two movies released in October 7th, 2022.
This blog has the movie "To Me, The One Who Loved You" explained.
Now, this movie may be a bit confusing, but I think that I understood it pretty well.
I have only watched this movie, not the other one.

So... here's what I understood:
I'll consider the world where the movie started, as world1 and the world in which Koyomi was married to his assistant Kazune, as world2.
So, I think we all have understood till the point where Shiori died in the car accident in the parallel world where she and Koyomi shifted to be able to marry each other when they were 14.
After Shiori died, Koyomi was devasted by her unfortunate death and was determined to bring her back which made him become a specialist in the field of study of parallel worlds.
Sometime later when Koyomi was working at his office, he suddenly shifted to another world. After opening his eyes, he saw that he was sleeping on his bed with an unknown woman. And THAT, was world2. Then he returned to world1.
While researching on how to bring her back, he was assigned an assistant whose name was Kazune.
Long after Kazune was assigned, he came up with a theory that if he shifts to a world, Shiori's ghost will aslo shift to that world and become a human again. But if Koyomi does that, his memories of world1 will be erased. After listening to this theory, Kazune was extremely distraught but she eventually accepted it.
Before shifting, Koyomi made a promise to Shiori to meet her at the crossing after 60 years in world2 when she will become human again.

So the period in the movie where Kazune and Koyomi were married and their whole life was shown, was actually world2 where Koyomi shifted to in his old age with the help of Kazune. Here, Koyomi shifted from world1 where he was 60 years old to world2 where he was only 7.
He did that because if he was with Kazune, then it meant that he never met Shiori in that world. Which in turn meant that he and Shiori never ran away to marry each other. It meant she was alive there.
Fast forward to the end of the movie, we see Koyomi in his old age lying on his bed when he gets a notification that he was supposed to meet someone at the crossing on that day. And by the way, if you are wondering what happened in his life in world2 before he became old, that was the period where Koyomi and Kazune were shown marrying each other and eventually having a grandchild.
So he went to the crossing on that day and was met with none other than Shiori where she re-iterated a line which she had said at the beginning of the movie when she and Koyomi were normal kids.
This is my understading of the movie. If anyone thinks otherwise feel free to comment the corrections. Meanwhile I'll go and watch "To Every You I've Loved Before".
And finally, I'll be honest. I thought this would be great movie to watch.. But according to me, this was pretty mediocre.
I would personally rate "To Me, The One Who Loved You" 7.6/10.
Now I'm just eager to see how the other movie is.

ReplyDeleteYou missed some major plot points, that's why the story felt mediocre.
ReplyDeleteYes that was because I explained the parts where most prople could have gotten confused. Thank you for your feedback though.
