Is Heavenly Delusion worth watching?

It's late 2022. It was probably November or December when I saw a trailer for an anime. It was titled "Heavenly Delusion", in English and "Tengoku Daimakyou" in Japanese.

I was like, "Hmm. The animation looks good". So I went ahead and watched the trailer. Then I was like, "Meh. Probably another anime like any other out there".
Months passed, and April came. That's when the anime was released. I was going through MAL (MyAnimeList) when I suddenly remembered that I had watched the trailer for this show long ago. So since I had time, I started watching the first episode of the anime.
Boom. That's when it happened. By the time I was in the middle of the episode, I had taken back everything I had said about the show probably being like any other.

I just fell in love with the anime. Before even finishing the episode, I wanted to rewatch it. That's how much I was amazed by it.
Since then, I have been watching this anime every week, without fail.
The comedy. The animation. The suspense. The world is building. And that one heck of a banger opening. How can anyone say that the show isn't perfect? Like, tell me one bad thing about it yet. There are none.

[SPOILERs AHEAD]

The anime is set in a post-apocalyptic world after the Great Disaster happened 15 years ago. We don't yet know what it was. The name of the two main protagonists are Kiruko, the girl, and the boy, Maru. And there's another facility where children are raised.

In the first episode, we see that Kiruko and Maru are roaming in the post-apocalyptic city searching for a place "Heaven". Sometime later, they were confronted by some goons, and she used her "Kiruko beam." Sheeesh... That animation was so good. Then they went into a hotel to relax. While they were staying there, at the end of the episode, the man-eater appeared.

And it just gets better from here.

The man eater

After that, Kiruko and Maru fought against it (where the animation was again, insane) when the home owner interrupted and got herself killed. Poor lady. She just wanted to be with her son.
But the way the man-eater killed her... It was so sudden and insane. And the animation during the fight. I just can't stop thinking about the animation. It's way too good for such an underrated anime.

And in the second episode, though, we learned that Kiruko was actually a man inside. I felt sad for Maru. My man just confessed to her, and it turns out she isn't "her".
In the third episode of the series though, we do get to see how Kiruko came from Kiriko, the older sister, and Haruki, the brother. At least, from there, we know why Kiruko was trying to kiss herself.

After that, it is now Kiruko and Maru's journey to find the Heaven where Kiruko is supposed to take Maru and, meanwhile, search for her acquaintances.

Okay okay. I know you guys are thinking, when I will say anything about "Heaven"? ( This is what I call it... It's the place where the children in red and white uniforms are raised). Well, now is the time.
So... Heaven. That place is straight-up weird and suspicious. Like, what is even going on there? The kids inside don't even know that there is an outside. I mean, they are probably being artificially born, who knows. And, getting intimate with each other without anyone having to teach them. What is going on?

But I have to say, when Tarao passed away, that part was real nicely done by the production team. The background soundtrack, the feeling... It was really good.

In episode 6, though, the night with the little girl... what was that?

Little girl seducing Maru
Firstly, we have Maru demanding his reward from Kiruko, which she herself offered him if he got the battery. Then we have that lodge girl jumping on Maru attempting to seduce him in exchange for what she wants. What was even going on. That episode was hilarious.

UPDATE 1:

And episode 8... Wow. Just wow. What an episode. Good one. The studio went above and beyond on this episode. When the woman who was being kept alive said that she wanted to see the sky... That moment. That was beautiful. Unfortunately after that the doctor killed himself to be with the woman who loved him.
And Maru on the other hand, hated himself two-folds in this one episode. First being the reason of Usami's death and the second being the reason of everyone's evacuation. Whereas Kiruko was very frustrated since Usami was a source of information about her old friend Robin, but Usami killed himself instead.
This episode was a really great one.

UPDATE 2:

Firstly, Tokio got pregnant. No one knows who taught the children in the facility to mate... But yeah, Tokio got pregnant.

Secondly, outside the facility, Maru and Kiruko encountered a weird guy who told them stories in exchange for money. Whereas what both them wanted was information about the symbol on their gun. Never trust strangers. But among the stories he told, there was one which was true. The story where the man was used as a breeding pig and from there, he had a child. And he was looking for the child. Then after the guy went away, we see that the symbol was related to an academy called Takahara Academy. The info about that academy was basically a definition of a cram school.

UPDATE 3:

WHAT. HAPPENED. TO. THE. ANIMATION?! I mean, I'm not complaining, but it is absolutely WILD! That animation's hillarious af. It breaches the seriousness of the anime. And the weird guy with the stories came back too! He was being helped out with the task of finding his kid.
heavenly delusion funny

That guy is weird though not going to lie. To check if she is clear to go the facility where his kid might be, he just groped her breasts and started feeling it wtf. But... the fun part of this episode ends here. When they went to look for the kid, they encountered with a man-eater which capitalizes on its ability to make the surrounding cold.

Anyways... Later on we find out that the kid is actually with his old breedmates. So after he goes to the place where his kid is, he also sees the one who ratted them out about them running away from the facility. So sometime later the guy with the kid killed him, took his kid and ran away. Btw, the kid was the man-eater with the cold ability.

All in all, I am just loving this anime. Heavenly Delusion is underrated. So if someone asks "Is Heavenly Delusion worth watching?". The answer is "Yes. Heavenly Delusion is worth watching".

Yupp.  I will keep updating this blog as the anime progresses. And don't forget to comment what you guys loved most in this anime. Thanks for reading, guys!
